What is UCLA GenderGap?
The UCLA GenderGap Clothing Drive is a community service oriented event initiated by several LGBTQ student organizations at UCLA (TransUp, Fluid, Society of Non-Binary Genders and Pan-Asian Queers).
Why UCLA GenderGap?
Every person has a right to express themselves and their gender identity - and not be subjected to discrimination, harassment and violence. UCLA GenderGap will also serve the homeless youth in our community, where as many as 40% identify as LGBTQ (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer).
In 2016, UCLA GenderGap will be partnering with local community service organization The Teen Project; professional clothing collected during UCLA GenderGap will be dedicated to The Teen Project.
The Teen Project strives to provide teens aging out of the foster care system with all of the resources and support of an intact family, and to allow the greatest opportunity for a successful transition to adulthood, with a focus on women/womxn-identified persons. |
How Does UCLA GenderGap Work?
To participate in the UCLA GenderGap Clothing Drive, donate at least one piece of clothing, and you can get access to the other items in the pool! The clothing exchange will happen on Thursday, April 21 and Friday, April 22. Please try to donate at least one piece of professional clothing, to better serve our community members.
